Saturday, May 30th: Senior Prom

Don't you love my prom dress?
Ha. Ha. Yeah, well, I was just the photographer capturing the evening of my older brother.

Between the two of them...

...they can hardly take a serious picture.

Ahh! Yes. There.

The little picture in Sarah's hands was from two years ago. They went to his junior prom together and reunited this year for her senior prom.

Sunday, May 31st: Fruit baskets

Oh just the usual dinner with Jackie!

A lovely family sent us a fruit basket because my dad helped installed their laundry machine. We sampled them all. In recent news, I love kiwis.

Monday, June 1st: Audition day!

I had my audition for the play that's going on this summer, As You Like It. We all had to prepare a Shakespearean sonnet that struck us. The one I found and loved was number 32:
If thou survive my well-contented day,
When that churl Death my bones with dust shall cover
And shalt by fortune once more re-survey
These poor rude lines of thy deceased lover,
Compare them with the bett'ring of the time,
And though they be outstripped by every pen,
Reserve them for my love, not for their rhyme,
Exceeded by the height of happier men.
O! then vouchsafe me but this loving thought:
'Had my friend's Muse grown with this growing age,
A dearer birth than this his love had brought,
To march in ranks of better equipage:
But since he died and poets better prove,
Theirs for their style I'll read, his for his love.'
In modern English, according to No Sweat Shakespeare, it translates to:
If you survive me when my happy life is over and churlish death has covered my bones with dust, and you should by chance read again these poor, crude poems by your dead friend, compare them with the better poems that are being written these days. And though my poems are being outstripped by every other poet, keep them for love of me, not for their poetic quality, exceeded by the brilliant poems of better poets. So grant me just this one loving thought: "If my friend's inspiration had been matched by the poetic excellence of the present time his love would have produced better poems than these, good enough to be ranked alongside those of today's good poets. But since he died and poets are better now, I'll read theirs for their style and his for his love."
The old English is obviously much more eloquent, but I love reading the modern and realizing how incredibly true the words still are.

Sweater: TJMaxx, Skirt; Becky's closet (thanks Bex!), Tank: Old Navy perhaps?, Necklace: Trinkets & Treasures, Shoes: Payless

I'm learning No Woman, No Cry. It's so beautiful and has such a feeling of summer to me.

Tuesday, June 2nd: Lit Mag
Working on the literary magazine after school. In my hands is a copy of last year's.
Katie took this picture after we chuckled over the box for a bit.
:) His converse are rockin. Budding fashionista?

I tried to be contorted. Kind of looks like my left arm is amputated though--ANTM panel would be very disappointed. Thanks to Katie for the above three of me!
I'm watching 'Inside the Obama White House' on NBC which is incredibly interesting and makes me fall more in love with the president. (I know, I'm so unoriginal.) Now though I must go off to do my homework. Coming soon to a blog post near you will be the amazing closet awards that the brilliant Annie tagged me in.
Stay tuned!
